Will Smith: I hope my new movie won't be affected by the Oscar slapping incident

During the press tour for Black Freedom, Will Smith addressed fans who may not be ready to support his work in the wake of the Oscars slap.

"I completely understand if somebody is not ready, and I absolutely respect that and allow them the space to not be ready," Smith told reporter Kevin McCarthy. "My biggest concern is my team... My biggest hope is that my actions don't reflect negatively on my team. At this point, that's what my job is about."

"Unfree" is a movie based on a true story. Will Smith plays a fugitive slave named Peter in the movie. He escapes from the plantation in Louisiana. Peter goes north and joins the Union Army to participate in the American Civil War. "Unfree" will be released in North America on December 2.
