Hugo Weaving says he's "fed up" with Lord of the Rings movies and has no interest in appearing in Hunt for Gollum

The Lord of the Rings film series is so enduring that spin-off series and films are still being produced, such as The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which features Gollum.

Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf in "The Lord of the Rings" film series, and Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn, have both expressed interest in returning in this film, but there is an exception, that is Hugo Weaving, who plays the elf lord Elrond.

"Personally, I'd had enough of it. I'd lived in New Zealand on and off for ten years and it was great. Then I went back and worked with the same team (director Peter Jackson and screenwriter Fran Walsh) on a project called Prey City, which was going to be their next big franchise, but it failed. So, I'd had enough of Middle-earth and I didn't think anyone would let me make this movie again," Hugo Weaving commented.

In addition, the actor, who played Elrond in all six "Lord of the Rings" movies, explained why he didn't want to participate: "Elrond is destined to be immortal, and I'm getting old. Elrond is one of the few characters, I think there are only three or four, who runs through the entire series. Even if we go back and reshoot some parts of "Lord of the Rings", I realize that I am older than I was before. When I was shooting "The Hobbit", it started to get a little stupid. I (of course) love being part of this series, but I have absolutely no plans or expectations to be part of it again."
