Overview

"Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo: Ryo-san and the Lucky Dog Story - Evade the Great Kameari Siege!!" is an episode of the TV anime series based on the popular manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo by Osamu Akimoto and Atelier Bidama. It was broadcast on Fuji TV on October 23, 2005, and was produced as a 60-minute special episode. It was directed by Akira Shigino and animated by Studio Gyarlop.

story

In this episode, the protagonist is Kankichi Ryotsu, who ends up taking care of a puppy that has wandered into a police station. Ryotsu realizes that the puppy brings good luck, but an unexpected turn of events awaits him: the puppy is actually the beloved dog of a princess who is visiting Japan secretly. This story is a perfect example of Kochikame, with Ryotsu's humorous daily life intertwined with a touching episode involving the puppy Lucky.

The main characters are played by LaSalle Ishii as Kankichi Ryotsu, Yumi Morio as Reiko Akimoto, Mitsuru Miyamoto as Keiichi Nakagawa, and Haruki Sayama as Chief Ohara. These voice actors bring out the best in the characters and leave a deep impression on the viewers. In particular, LaSalle Ishii's voice as Ryotsu perfectly reproduces the humor and charm of the character from the original work.

Production Staff

Director Akira Shigino respects the atmosphere of the original work while skillfully incorporating the unique expressions of anime. Character design and chief animation director Tsukasa Tannai faithfully reproduces the visuals of the original work while adding the movements and expressions unique to animation. In addition, the staff, including art director Satoshi Shibata, cinematographer Shinya Matsuzaki, sound director Hajime Takakuwa, and composers Ryo Yonemitsu and Toshihiko Sahashi, worked together to create a work that is both visually and aurally rich.

Evaluation and Impressions

This episode is very satisfying for fans of the original work. Ryoutsu's humorous actions and the touching story through Lucky are perfectly blended, so viewers will not get bored. In addition, the episode is deep, with detailed storytelling that makes the most of the 60-minute length, and the growth of the characters and changes in their relationships.

The animation quality is also high, and the cuteness of Lucky and the richness of Ryotsu's expressions are particularly impressive. The music also plays an important role in livening up the story, successfully evoking emotions in the viewer.
