■ Story

"ONE PIECE: The Giant Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle" is the story of the Straw Hat Pirates' new adventure. Luffy and his friends encounter a great storm on the Grand Line and rescue a treasure chest from a pirate ship that is on the verge of sinking. However, an old woman with golden dentures named Roba emerges from the chest. They promise to escort her to the island in exchange for obtaining the legendary treasure, the Golden Crown, but when they arrive on the island, Roba is forcibly taken away by her son Ratchet, the lord of the island. Having lost a clue to the Golden Crown, Luffy and his friends begin their treasure hunt using the "Island Song," but a grand trap using Karakuri awaits them along the way.

■Explanation

"ONE PIECE: Giant Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle" is the seventh movie in the "ONE PIECE" series, released in 2006. The setting is Mecha Island, where mechanisms are set up everywhere. The film depicts the adventures and battles of Luffy and his friends as they confront Ratchet, the lord of the island and a genius Karakuri inventor. In this film, the largest giant Karakuri weapon in the history of "ONE PIECE" appears, creating a visual impact.

The film was directed by Uda Konosuke, who also directed the first full-length One Piece film, Dead End Adventure. Trusted by the original author, Oda Eiichiro, Director Uda has been able to depict the epic adventure and battle with his signature fast-paced direction. The guest voice actors who bring to life the unique original characters that are a joy to watch every time are also spectacular. SMAP's Inagaki Goro, in his first attempt at voice acting, plays the role of Ratchet, a genius and beautiful boy who approaches Luffy and his friends with a contraption that even Usopp would be surprised by. He plays a delicate yet somewhat comical role that is hard to hate. In addition, the popular comedy duo Gokuraku Tombo's Kato Koji and Yamamoto Keiichi take on the role of Ratchet's subordinates, General Maji and Colonel Honki, giving the characters even more strong personalities. The theme song is sung by NEWS, led by Yamashita Tomohisa, who is currently enjoying a huge boom. Their youthful and energetic singing sends cheers to the Luffy Pirates. This work is packed with special topics that you won't want to take your eyes off of.
