Entering Hollywood again! Stephen Fung directs new version of "The Count of Monte Cristo"

According to foreign media, Stephen Fung will direct the new version of "The Count of Monte Cristo" (tentative translation) and serve as executive producer with Jack Huston. The film is adapted from the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas, starring and written by Jack Huston ("Boardwalk Empire"), telling the story of Nicholas Cristo (Jack Huston), a man who has been framed, betrayed, and imprisoned for more than ten years, and who struggles to bring justice to a world that is more cruel and corrupt than the world he was taken away from.

Alexandre Dumas's "The Count of Monte Cristo" has been adapted into movies many times since its release. It is reported that the new version of the story will be set in Asia and the United States. This is also the second time that Stephen Fung has directed a new work in the United States after the series "The Five Elements Assassins". In 2019, he became the first Chinese director to independently direct a Netflix American TV series by directing the martial arts drama "The Five Elements Assassins". Previously, the American TV series "Into the Badlands" directed and produced by Stephen Fung won the ratings championship for new TV series that quarter.
