Jeremy Renner hints at returning as Hawkeye in Avengers 5

Jeremy Renner has hinted that he will return as Hawkeye in Avengers 5, although he admitted that the project is still in its early stages.

Jeremy Renner told Us Weekly that he is "very excited" about Avengers 5, especially after the surprising news that former "Iron Man" Robert Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom. Renner said that Downey is not the only MCU veteran returning, and he himself is ready to pick up the bow again.

Looking ahead, Renner said: "The Avengers movies have always been fan favourites, and there are so many wonderful characters in them. It's going to be a challenge to bring everybody together. It's probably going to be a week-by-week thing for Marvel because of everybody's schedules. It's a lot of people, but I'm excited. I think we might do it. We'll have to figure it out. Everything is new. It just happened like that... they just made an announcement."

Renner revealed that although Downey Jr. is his friend, he was kept in the dark until the big casting announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con.

"I had no idea. This asshole didn't tell me anything, and we're still buddies. We have an Avengers family chat room, right -- the original six -- and he didn't say anything, so I went online and started calling him up, like, 'What's going on? You been hiding this from us?' ... It's really exciting news, man."
