Today, January 6, Kodansha officially announced that "The Complete Works of Katsuhiro Otomo", which includes all the works of the famous Japanese cartoonist Katsuhiro Otomo, will be released in 2021. At the same time, news of several other related works was announced. The previously announced Hollywood live-action movie "Akira" has been suspended indefinitely.

Katsuhiro Otomo was born on April 14, 1954 in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. He is a Japanese animation director, screenwriter, producer and cartoonist. His representative cartoon work "Akira" is world-renowned. In 1986, he directed his first animated film "Labyrinth Story", which officially started his directorial career. In 1988, he directed the science fiction animated film "Akira" and it was released. In 2006, he directed the fantasy drama "Mushishi", which was shortlisted for the main competition unit of the 63rd Venice International Film Festival.

In addition to announcing the release of "The Complete Works of Katsuhiro Ōtomo" within the year, the official also confirmed the news of several previously announced related works. The new animated film "ORBITAL ERA" and the new animated version of "Akira" are still in production, while the Hollywood live-action movie "Akira" has been suspended indefinitely.
