For every thrilling sword fight and fireball-slinging spectacle in Netflix's The Witcher Season 1, there were some sloppy moments. Fans eager to watch Season 2 of The Witcher will be pleased to learn that George Lucas' legendary visual effects studio, Industrial Light & Magic, will be involved in the production. This doesn't mean we'll see X-wings and TIE fighters appearing in the forests of Nilfgaard, but ILM has provided excellent visual effects in basically every Star Wars movie. The company has also produced a lot of special effects for non-Star Wars blockbusters, including Jurassic Park, Men in Black, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Pacific Rim, etc. According to Redanian Intelligence, the studio has won a whopping 16 Oscars for visual effects, and the scope of productions and sets involved is vast - working within the brutal fantasy setting of The Witcher shouldn't be a problem. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, production on The Witcher Season 2 was temporarily halted earlier this year, but will resume in full later this month. We've learned that unlike Season 1, this season will not jump between different timelines. In addition, this season will focus on Ciri's witcher training. |
