According to a recent report by foreign media Deadline, the second season of "The Last of Us" will have a total of 7 episodes, the third season will be larger in scale, and there is a possibility of a fourth season. Craig Mazin, co-creator and showrunner of The Last of Us Season 2, told Deadline that the second season will have seven episodes instead of the nine in the first season. “We had a lot more story material from The Last of Us Part II than we did from The Last of Us Part I because one of the things we had to do from the beginning was how to tell this story across seasons,” Mazin said. “And when you do that, you look for natural break points, and the break point for this season feels like it’s after seven episodes, as we’ve arranged it.” That means one of the seven episodes this season will be longer, similar to the 80-minute premiere of season one. Season two will also have an episode that's not that long, but still longer than normal. Mazin also talked about the subsequent plot. He said that the third season will be bigger in scale, and after the third season ends, the show may not end. "We don't think we can tell the story in two seasons (Season 2 and Season 3) because we have to take our time to go down interesting paths," Mazin said. "We feel that as long as the audience continues to watch and as long as we can continue to produce more seasons, the scale of Season 3 will definitely be bigger. In fact, this story may need a fourth season." |
