Is Guardians of the Galaxy 3 coming soon? The new Suicide Squad movie has finished filming

James Gunn, the director of "Slit" and "Guardians of the Galaxy", recently announced on social media that the new version of "Suicide Squad" directed by him has officially wrapped up. Gunn thanked all the crew members, "Your professionalism, talent, compassion and kindness inspire me every day." The new version of "Suicide Squad" is scheduled to be released on August 6, 2021.

The new version of "Suicide Squad" started filming in September last year. In addition to "Deadshot" Will Smith and "Joker" Jared Leto, most of the actors in the previous film returned, including "Harley Quinn" Margot Robbie, "Flag" Joel Kinnaman, "Captain Boomerang" Jai Courtney, "Waller" Viola Davis, etc. New actors joining include Taika Waititi ("Thor 3"), Michael Rooker ("Guardians of the Galaxy"), John Cena ("Bumblebee") and Idris Elba ("Fast & Furious Hobbs & Shaw"), etc.

The new "Suicide Squad" movie is not a sequel, but a completely new work by Gunn himself, although it has the same characters and story elements. The first "Suicide Squad" directed by David Ayer, which was released in 2016, was not well received, but it was undoubtedly a commercial success, with a global box office of 747 million US dollars.

With the new version of "Suicide Squad" movie completed, although post-production may take some time, director James Gunn may start filming "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" soon.

According to Marvel, the last movie to be released in Phase 4 is "Thor 4", which is scheduled to be released on November 5, 2020, so "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" should be released in 2022 at the earliest.

It is worth mentioning that Marvel has previously announced the release dates of the three films after the fourth phase, which are February 18, May 6 and July 29, 2022. Although Marvel did not disclose the names of these three films, perhaps one of these schedules belongs to "Guardians of the Galaxy 3".
