Sonic the Hedgehog's first week hit will break Detective Pikachu's record

The movie "Sonic the Hedgehog" was officially released in North America and some other regions this week. Although the response was not overwhelmingly positive, its reputation remained above average, meeting the expectations of most fans. Therefore, according to many predictions, the North American box office of "Sonic the Hedgehog" will reach more than 65 million US dollars after this weekend.

The opening weekend result of $65 million will beat last year's "Detective Pikachu" (54 million) to become the new video game movie opening box office champion. "Sonic the Hedgehog" was first released in 4,130 theaters and received an A CinemaScore from the audience on the first day. From the comparison of the freshness of the reviews on the Rotten Tomatoes website and the audience's popcorn index, we can also see that the vast majority of the audience of the movie, that is, Sonic fans, are very satisfied with the movie and do not care about the flaws pointed out by the media reviews.

"Sonic the Hedgehog" tells the story of the world's fastest blue hedgehog and his new friend Tom Wachowski teaming up to fight against the villain played by Jim Carrey (the prototype of Dr. Eggman). It was originally scheduled to be released in November last year, but was finally remade due to problems with Sonic's image and was changed to this month.

"Sonic the Hedgehog" has been internally scheduled to be released on February 28th.
