The copyright ownership of "Ultraman" has always been a headache for the industry and player fans. Today, on December 10, the biological father of the genuine Ultraman, "Tsuburaya Productions", issued a statement saying that on December 5 local time in the United States, the court ruled in the long-awaited lawsuit against UM company for copyright infringement and won the case. Ultraman finally belongs to Tsuburaya. So the question is, what role does UM play? This is an unresolved historical legacy in the long history of Ultraman. To put it simply, UM was once authorized to own the intellectual property rights of Ultraman in countries outside of Japan. Although Tsuburaya does not admit it to this day, the key is that UM has the so-called "contract". As early as April 24, 2018, Tsuburaya Productions sued UM in a U.S. court, which also involved several Chinese versions of "Ultraman movies" that claimed to be authorized by UM. However, with the ruling of the U.S. court, it seems that Ultraman will eventually belong to Tsuburaya Productions. As for the subsequent development and whether Tsuburaya will settle accounts and sue the Chinese versions of "Ultraman movies" for infringement, it is not yet known. However, Tsuburaya Productions stated in a statement that UM has the right to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court for review, but the possibility of being accepted is not high, so we have to wait and see how it will develop in the future. ·Tsuburaya Production Statement Address>>>>> The Chinese version of "Ultraman Movie" |
