Although Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow eventually withdrew from the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker team, his contribution ultimately earned him a screenwriter's title for the final chapter of the sequel trilogy, and Colin will naturally earn income from this sure-to-be-sellable sci-fi masterpiece. The former director announced today through DeadLine that he will donate all of the proceeds to the Alexander Devine Child Care Center, a UK-based charity that provides funds and services to sick children. He said that the donation is consistent with the spirit he learned from Star Wars creator George Lucas. “Through his films, George Lucas taught us about the interconnectedness of all things. He taught us to care for one another and set a great example himself. I can’t think of a better way to carry on George Lucas’ legacy than for the AD Care Center to help families during their most difficult times.” The care organization expressed gratitude to Colin for his kindness and was "overwhelmed by the incredible generosity". Colin's donation is expected to be enough to pay a professional nursing nurse for a full year, which will enable the organization to continue to maintain its original mission. Colin previously drafted several drafts for Star Wars 9 with his partner Derek Connolly, who is now on the team list for Star Wars 9. This confirms that the final version of the Skywalker Rise script still includes a lot of work from both of them. Colin previously praised J.J. Abrams through Empire magazine for doing a good job in finalizing the script for The Rise of Skywalker - "This is a difficult story to parse clearly, but he found the right way. I'm grateful that he accepted some of our ideas." However, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy terminated the contract with Colin and Derek because she was dissatisfied with the script they handed over. "Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker" will be released on December 20, premiering simultaneously in China and North America. |
