The Hong Kong Film Producers Association announced on September 24 that it has decided to recommend the film "Drug War 2: King of Drug Lords" directed by Herman Yau and starring Andy Lau and Louis Koo to compete for the 92nd Academy Awards for Best International Film (formerly Best Foreign Language Film). A spokesperson for the Producers Guild said that the board members were selected from all Hong Kong films released between October last year and September this year, and "Drug War 2" received the majority of votes to be elected as the nominee representative. The film was a dark horse in the summer season and earned 1.296 billion in the mainland box office, making it the highest-grossing Hong Kong film so far this year. However, it is not easy to compete for the Best International Film at this year's Oscars. The 92nd Academy Awards will be held on February 9, 2020. |
