Netflix's The Witcher star doesn't think she needs to 'overprepare'

The Netflix version of The Witcher officially released its first trailer at the SDCC San Diego Comic-Con in the middle of this month, sparking heated discussions among fans of the original novel and the game. Given that the IP of The Witcher has become well-known to the world through CDPR, many actors have said that they will be well prepared for their roles in order to live up to the expectations of fans around the world. However, Freya Allan, who plays Ciri, said in a recent interview that she does not want to be "overprepared."

“I read the books, which gave me a really good idea of the nature of Ciri, but I relied very much on the script. I think I had to avoid doing too much preparation because I already felt such a similarity between Ciri and myself, and I didn’t want to disrupt that natural connection.”

"I mainly rely on the script. As I said, Ciri has been well protected throughout her life (not the original book, but the current script...), without being polished for many years, and there is no need to give her many layers of personality. Old actors need to prepare longer because their characters live longer. For me, I will shape these things in this season, and if I continue to play, this will shape the final image of Ciri and me."

This is a very interesting statement, and it may prove to be the right choice in the end. However, as fans, most people still watch the show with their expectations for the characters, whether these expectations come from the original novel or the game. In other words, seeing how Allan, Superman and other actors and Netflix deal with and respond to fans' expectations will also be one of the highlights of the show.
