Lost both reputation and box office? Thor's "Men in Black" failed to break 100 million yuan in the first day of box office in mainland China

According to statistics from Time.com, the box office of Men in Black: International, which was released in mainland China on June 14, was only 54.89 million yuan on its first day, failing to break the 100 million yuan mark. In addition, the reputation of Men in Black: International was not very good either.

Men in Black: International has a freshness rating of only 32% on Rotten Tomatoes, a popcorn index of 74%, and only 3 positive reviews out of 25. The MTC rating is 43 points, with 6 positive reviews, 22 medium reviews, and 8 negative reviews. The overall reputation is not as good as the previous works in the series.

Excerpts from foreign media reviews:

TheWrap: The film lacks ambition and depth, but its beauty and richness also prove that Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth are two very popular movie stars in the galaxy.

Variety: It wasn’t their characters, but the connection between Tessa Thompson and Hemsworth himself that saved the film.

The Hollywood Reporter: As far as the movie itself is concerned, this makeover is somewhat fascinating, but it also feels like a lot of effort for a fairly limited entertainment return.

Time Out: This one won’t make you hate movies, but it imposes a general sense of boredom that will make you take a hard look at your entertainment choices.

The Playlist: Whatever the case, Men in Black: International is a failure on every level, and instead of providing 3D glasses, theaters should be handing out neurosedatives after the film to help us forget the embarrassing memories of what we just watched.

Parade Magazine: The script is old-fashioned and repetitive, the plot is confusing and tortuous, and it lacks a fresh and lively feeling.

AtHomeInHollywood: Director F. Gary Gray uses a skilled cast to breathe a little new life into this film, but it doesn't completely revitalize it.

Entertainment Weekly: It’s worse than Men in Black 2 and worse than Men in Black 3, but they’re all bad, so erase that from your memory.
