The third Alien prequel movie will be filmed and the script is in development

After Disney acquired Fox, the "Alien" IP has been owned by Disney. Although the recent works in the series "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" have not performed well at the box office, director Ridley Scott revealed that Disney hopes he can develop more "Alien" series movies in the future.

Ridley Scott said that he would make another "Alien" prequel movie, which will be a sequel to "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" and is currently in the script writing stage.

After Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott originally planned to shoot the third prequel film Alien: Awakening. However, due to the poor box office of Alien: Covenant, Alien: Awakening was cancelled. The third prequel film revealed today may be the rebooted version of Alien: Awakening.

"Alien: Covenant" was released on May 4, 2017. The film's budget was about $111 million, but the global box office was only $241 million.

According to the original story outline, the story of Awakening will be a continuation of Covenant . David, the android played by Michael Fassbender, caused a massacre on the Paradise planet. The engineers were exterminated, and a group of engineers who survived the massacre will launch a revenge plan against David. The main stage of this revenge may be the planet LV-426, where Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) first encountered the alien in the first Alien movie directed by Ridley Scott. This means that Fassbender's character will be brought back to the world of the original Alien trilogy movie.
