The live-action movie "Borderlands" is not adapted from the game: a completely original new universe

Before the trailer and poster of the live-action movie of "Borderlands" were released, Randy Pitchford, the founder of "Borderlands" developer Gearbox, was interviewed by foreign media IGN and shared his vision for the future of the film.

Pitchford first clarified that the Borderlands movie is not adapted from the game plot as the outside world believes. He said: "The coolest thing about this movie is that we created a movie universe that coexists with the game. Of course, the character creation is very realistic, and the story themes and some story lines are also very realistic, but they are all independent story lines."

Pitchford continued: "So this is not the first episode of Borderlands, nor is it Borderlands 2. The Borderlands movie is the first work in the Borderlands movie universe. You will see some characters in the game and get to know their different sides. In the movie, we can explore more deeply and add expansion content, just like you have never seen the CEO of Atlas Enterprises in the game, but you will see this character for the first time in the movie."

The live-action film "Borderlands" will be directed by Eli Ross and will be released in North America on August 9. "Big Devil" Cate Blanchett plays "Witch" Lilith, Kevin Hart plays Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis plays Dr. Tanis, Jack Black voices the robot Little Noisy, Ariana Greenblatt plays Little Tina, Big Nasty plays Little Tina's protector Krieg, Olivier Richters plays the villain Chrom, Edgar Ramirez plays the villain Atlas, Shane Jackson plays Jacobs, and Janina Gavankar plays the new character Commander Knox.
