George R.R. Martin is full of praise for the next Game of Thrones adaptation

"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin has heaped praise on the series' next spinoff.

Martin revealed on his Not a Blog page that he has watched all six episodes of the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

"[Showrunner] Ella Parker and his team wrapped filming Season 1 a few months ago and are now in post-production," Martin wrote. "I've now seen all six episodes (the last two are still rough cuts, to be honest), and I love them. Dunk and Egg have always been my favorite characters, and the actors we found to play them are amazing. The rest of the cast is also very good. Just waiting for you to see 'The Laughing Storm' and 'Tansel the Tall.'"

He added: "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on my first novella about them, The Hedge Knight. It is an adaptation that is as faithful to the books as reasonably possible (and you all know how reasonable I am about that)."

Martin does care about the fidelity of his work, having published a (now deleted) post criticizing "harmful" adaptations in the third season of House of the Dragon and subsequent plans.

He went on to explain that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a "character drama", which means there will be less action. After reflecting on the publication of the novella, he added: "This is one of the most wonderful stories I have ever written, and I am so, so delighted that Ella Parker, Dee Meeker, Aziza Barnes (R.I.P.), Owen Harris and our wonderful cast and crew have brought it to life so beautifully."

Martin also wrote that the series will premiere "later this year," and possibly hinted at a second season: "In the meantime, we will be working on an adaptation of 'The Sworn Swordsman,' the second story of Dunk and Egg."

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will air this year, while House of the Dragon Season 3 has yet to have a release date.
