Jim Carrey confirmed to return in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie

Although he was defeated by Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in the second movie and his fate was uncertain at the end, Dr. Eggman actor Jim Carrey recently confirmed that he will return to play the role in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3".

According to Variety, Jim Carrey will once again play the main villain that Sonic and his friends have to face in the third film, following rumors that Jim Carrey would retire from the film. Of course, fans had already guessed that Dr. Eggman would return before the report, as the short trailer released by the movie's official account included the movie title inspired by Sonic Adventure 2 and included Dr. Eggman's evil laugh. The Sonic account later changed its profile picture to Dr. Eggman's logo.

Our report on the trailer yesterday also mentioned that the soundtrack of this new trailer is a remix of the game soundtrack "Live and Learn" when Sonic and Shadow fight in the game "Sonic Adventure 2". Both the movie title design and the soundtrack are tributes to the game.

It is not clear who will play the black hedgehog Shadow, but all the previous cast members Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Colleen O'Shaughnessy (Tails), Idris Elba (Knuckles) and others are expected to return.

A spin-off series featuring Knuckles is still in production and will air on the streaming platform Paramount+ later.
