Although Chad Stahelski, the director of the action movie series "John Wick" starring Keanu Reeves, is best known for his fighting scenes, he has now turned his attention to science fiction works and said he wants to make a "Star Wars" movie. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said: "I'm a Star Wars fan. The first Star Wars changed the course of my life. Maybe one day, Disney, if you're listening, can call me in a few years. I have some ideas for Star Wars. I'd like to try them out, if Disney outlives me." But filming Star Wars also meant giving up the freedom he had when filming his own film series. In the podcast, he said that he is often asked, "Why did you choose John Wick? Don't you want to try something else?" "Yeah, I definitely want to [try something else], but given the freedom that the options that I have, I feel like I can do more, bring more to the table, do more of what I want to do, in terms of the opportunities that I have. I want to make the fighting, the animations, and the action more the way I want it to be with John Wick. Why would I want to work within the confines of someone else's limitations when I can create the fights and the mythology that I believe in?" The next entry in the John Wick universe is Ballerinas, a spinoff starring Ana de Armas that is expected to be released on June 7, 2024. |
