Nintendo announced today (November 8) that they are developing a live-action movie based on its popular game "The Legend of Zelda", which is another blockbuster work after the "Super Mario Bros." movie. As with the Super Mario Bros. movie, Nintendo's legendary producer Shigeru Miyamoto will serve as producer of the film. Arad Productions Inc. Chairman Avi Arad will also participate in the production, and Wes Ball will serve as director. According to official news, Nintendo and Arad Productions will jointly produce The Legend of Zelda movie, with more than 50% of the funds provided by Nintendo and the rest co-invested by Sony Pictures, which will be responsible for the film's theatrical distribution. Nintendo said in a statement: "By producing visual content based on Nintendo's intellectual property in-house, Nintendo is creating new opportunities for people around the world to access the world of entertainment created by Nintendo in different ways, not just through game consoles. By deeply participating in film production in order to bring smiles to people's faces through entertainment, Nintendo will continue to work hard to create unique entertainment content and deliver it to as many people as possible." Shigeru Miyamoto added in a statement released via Nintendo's official social media: "I am Shigeru Miyamoto. Together with Mr. Avi Arad, who has produced many super-hit films, I have been working on a live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda for many years. I have asked Mr. Avi to work with me on this film, and we have now officially started working closely together on the film. Although it will take some time to complete, I hope everyone looks forward to its release." No more information about the live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda has been announced yet. We still need to wait patiently for a deeper understanding of this long-awaited live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda. |
