Naughty Dog: The Last of Us will have less violence

Everyone knows that the game "The Last of Us" is full of violent elements and has many bloody scenes. Recently, Naughty Dog President Neil Druckmann said in an interview with foreign media that the series "The Last of Us" will reduce violence and focus on enhancing the horror atmosphere.

“We need a certain amount of violence or action in the game, and use it in the game mechanics,” said Neil Druckmann. “So that the player can connect with Joel and get into his mindset. Then you really feel connected to this avatar on the screen, and you see the world through his eyes.”

Neil continued: "It's different in film and television. The audience can't control the actors, so in addition to the necessary scenes, the creation of a horror atmosphere is more important than violence. And violence can also have a greater impact than in the game, because when you continue to show violence and see people's reactions to it, it makes it more terrifying. When we show the infected, you see what makes humans degenerate and why everyone is so scared."

The Last of Us will premiere on January 16, 2023, with a total of nine episodes in the first season.
