The Little Mermaid actress posted a selfie after being cyberbullied: Hardships and difficulties make you successful

After the first trailer of the live-action movie "The Little Mermaid" was released, it received 450,000 likes and 1.43 million dislikes on YouTube, setting a record for the most dislikes for a Hollywood movie. Many netizens complained that the heroine Halle Bailey was far from the image of the mermaid in the animated version. Many people said that "she really looks like a fish" and "it has nothing to do with skin color, I just think the actress is not beautiful." Some people also questioned whether Disney was overdoing it for political correctness.

Today (September 19), Halle Bailey posted a selfie on Twitter with the caption: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." She also added a tongue-out emoji to show that she was in a good mood and could face the gossip on the Internet calmly.

Earlier, when Halle Bailey attended Disney's D23 Expo, she was asked by reporters about her willingness to join the Marvel Universe. Halle Bailey expressed her willingness to take on any Marvel role: "I think all Marvel superheroes are great, and my favorite is Storm from X-Men. It would be cool if I could join Marvel!"

The live-action film "The Little Mermaid" is adapted from the classic Disney animation of the same name and will be released in North America on May 26, 2023. The film tells the story of a young mermaid who falls in love with a prince. In order to join the ranks of humans, she makes a deal with the sea witch and exchanges her voice for a pair of legs. Halle Bailey plays the mermaid Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King plays Prince Eric, Javier Bardem plays Ariel's father King Triton, Melissa McCarthy plays the villain Ursula, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina play Ariel's friends Flounder and Scuttle, and Daveed Diggs plays the red crab Sebastian.
