Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 director Jeff Fowler says he'd be willing to make a Super Smash Bros. movie, but it could be a legal nightmare. In an interview with ComicBook, Jeff Fowler was asked if he would consider directing a movie based on a Nintendo game, considering Sonic's appearance in the recent Super Smash Bros. game. Fowler responded: "Nothing would make me happier than to have all the characters go into a battle royale and then do Super Smash Bros." However, he admitted that it would be difficult to get approved because "it might require some work from the lawyers before that happens." "To have Mario and Sonic in the ring, I think everyone's kind of craving that, right? It's classic." Sonic the Hedgehog 2 opens in North American theaters today, having previously been released in 31 markets including Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, etc. According to reports, Paramount is very satisfied with the opening weekend of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ($25.5 million). In February this year, Sega and Paramount Pictures announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and a live-action TV series have entered production. Toby Ascher, the producer of the movie version, said he plans to create a "Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Universe." |
