Disney+ announces live-action adaptation of Goosebumps novel series

According to film and television media Deadline, Disney+ announced that it will shoot a live-action series adapted from the "Goosebumps" series of novels. The streaming platform recently announced that it had won this project at TCA. The series began development in 2020 and was jointly created by Neal H. Moritz ("Goosebumps Movie"), Scholastic Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Television. It will once again adapt R.L. Stine's novel (previously filmed as a movie and a TV series).

The Goosebumps series of books belongs to the category of children's literature and horror novels, and the plots of each book have a lot in common. The protagonists are teenagers who are trapped in supernatural events and try to escape from them, but different series will have different protagonists and settings. The protagonists are generally from middle-class families, both male and female. They are usually in an environment far away from the prosperous society, such as suburbs, summer camps or boarding schools.
