New stills from the HBO series The Last of Us have leaked online, revealing for the first time the fungal infection that killed most of the world's population in the game. The Last of Us is currently filming in Canada, and set photos are leaking almost daily. While The Last of Us may be set in a mostly abandoned post-apocalyptic world, unfortunately, in the real world there are a lot of people lurking around with their phones taking pictures. The photos released on social media today are some of the most interesting and detailed set photos yet. Although they were shot from a distance, they reveal the first time the fungal infection has been seen. Those strange creatures are crawling on the wall just behind Joel and Ellie. If you've played the game, you'll know how accurate the depiction of the fungal infection is. It also shows how much effort and detail went into the show. It's understandable, since apparently each episode has a budget of over $10 million. In The Last of Us, a fungal infection leads to the end of the world. These shots also show that filming is going well, although the show may not have been shot in chronological order. (Spoiler alert) While it's hard to determine exactly which scene this is from the first game, it looks like it could be before Tess sacrifices herself to allow Joel and Ellie to escape. Since HBO's The Last of Us is still in the process of filming, it is unclear when the show will be released on HBO Max. If there are no obstacles, the creators of the show are aiming for 2022. This may not be broadcast until the end of next year, at least 12 months later. Stills: |
