A boy named Jetter, Time Patrol No. 723567 from the 30th century, is dispatched to pursue Jaguar, a wanted criminal who has fled to the past. However, in the flow of time, his beloved machine, the Ryusei, has a collision and crashes into the world of the 20th century along with Jaguar.
When his time machine breaks down and he is left behind in the 20th century, Jetter uses the power of future science, including a time stopper, to fight against criminals from the future.

■Explanation

This was an original TBS project that was broadcast as a follow-up to the popular anime series "Eight Man." The script was written by one of Japan's leading sci-fi and mystery writers, Kano Ichiro, along with Tsutsui Yasutaka, Yamamura Masao, Tsuji Masaki, Hanmura Ryo, Toyoda Aritsugu, and Mayumura Taku, making it a pioneering work in the field of sci-fi boy hero stories. The character design and comic book adaptation was done by Hisamatsu Fumio, who was only 21 years old at the time. The music was by Yamashita Takeo, who had also worked on many TV drama songs, making this a work with an extremely impressive staff.
All episodes of the original broadcast of this work were in black and white, but 26 of the 52 episodes were remade into color for export overseas. Some of the drawings were redone at that time. The color version was also rebroadcast in Japan after the black and white version had finished airing.
