story

The story begins with seven meteors that flew to Earth from space. Each meteor was colored in seven different colors, and possessed the terrifying power to materialize the desires of anyone who picked them up, transforming them into a monster. Dr. Sanshiki and Dr. Kishida secretly obtained three of the meteors - the Red, Green, and Blue meteors - and after some research, succeeded in controlling the power of the meteors by wearing a special helmet. This helmet, named "Musumet," was about the size of a motorcycle helmet, and had the ability to transform the head into the strongest body on Earth when worn, as well as the ability to infinitely amplify the original power and abilities of the user by receiving signals from the brain.

In order to utilize the power of the Musumet, Dr. Sanshiki and Dr. Kishida established the secret organization "MET" to prevent world peace and damage caused by the remaining colored meteors that have yet to be discovered. However, Dr. Sanshiki passed away before he could achieve his goal. Dr. Sanshiki's beloved daughters, Aoi, Midori, and Kurenai, decided to follow their father's wishes and become Musumet. Even when they transform, only their heads (helmets), hands (gloves), and feet (boots) change, so they inevitably scramble to the scene of the crime in their own costumes. The three Musumets scramble to the scene of the crime sometimes in "sailor suits," sometimes in "bloomers," sometimes in "school swimsuits," and sometimes even naked, and should be very active, but... they are of marriageable age. When they take off their helmets, they are just ordinary girls who long for a wonderful love, and are currently looking for a boyfriend. A wonderful boyfriend and a friend of justice. What does the future hold for the three-colored sisters?

Ratings and Recommendations

Despite its short broadcast period, "Ryusei Sentai Otomet" left a strong impact. In particular, the distinctive characters of the three Sanshoku sisters and the unique costumes they wear when transforming became a hot topic. The story is simple, but has an excellent balance of justice and romance, and has the power to draw viewers in. As you can see from the subtitles of each episode, the romance element is emphasized, making it enjoyable as a coming-of-age drama for girls.

The character designs are by Hasegawa Koji, and Hara Masaharu is in charge of character design and general animation direction. The designs of the three sisters in particular are visually appealing, reflecting their personalities and club activities. The music is also by Sakai Ryo, and the theme songs "Irodori Trichromatic" and "Musumegokoro☆Otomegokoro" are important elements that add to the atmosphere of the work.

This work takes a unique approach within the Sentai genre, and was especially popular with female viewers. The setting in which the characters wear their own costumes after transformation is a unique element not found in other Sentai works, and became a hot topic among viewers. In addition, the story is concluded in a short period of three episodes, and showing it to viewers all at once maximizes its appeal.

"Ryusei Sentai Otomet" is a short but dense story with unique characters. It is a work that I would definitely recommend to those who like Sentai and girls' anime. You can also enjoy this world view more deeply by watching the related works "Ryusei Sentai Musumet" and "Return of Ryusei Sentai Musumet". Please give it a watch.
