·"I"
A third-year student at a certain university in Kyoto. He spends his youth aimlessly in room 209 of the rundown apartment building "Shimogamo Yusuisou." He is interested in his junior, Akashi-san, but in the scorching heat of August, he finds himself in big trouble when the air conditioner remote control is submerged in water.
Akashi-san is a year younger than me. She is a member of the film club "Misogi" and is dedicated to mass-producing trashy movies. She is energetic, competitive, and just the right amount of crazy.
Ozu: A classmate who whips the weak and kowtows to the strong. He is selfish, arrogant, lazy, and contrary. He doesn't study and makes a living off the misfortunes of others. He tries with all his might to ruin "my" student life.
Master Higuchi is the boss of Shimogamo Yuusuisou and is respected by all the residents. Although he is a "very dangerous guide to the dead end of life," Akashi-san seems to look up to him as his master.
・Jougasaki Senpai The boss of the film club "Misogi". Arrogant and insensitive. Feeling hostility towards him from the moment we met, "I" plots with all my might to trip him up.
A dental hygienist working at a nearby clinic. A cheerful and friendly beauty, she is apparently an old friend of Higuchi and Jougasaki, so she must be no ordinary person.
・Aijima-senpai is Mr. Jougasaki's right-hand man in the film club "Misogi". He plays the lead role of Ginga Susumu in the film "Bakumatsu Soft-Waste Retsuden".
Tamura-kun is a scruffy young man who came from 25 years into the future in a time machine. He is said to be living in room 209 of Shimogamo Yuusuisou in the future, but what is he doing on this pointless time journey?
