The fantasy novel "A Song of Ice and Fire", written by the famous writer George RR Martin, had its first volume published in 1996. Five of the seven volumes have been released so far, and the sixth volume, "The Winds of Winter", is still in production. Recently, when George RR Martin was a guest at the "Oxford Writers' House", he answered a question from the Internet. The question asked Martin which elements of one of the books (referring to the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series) he would like to change if he had the chance. To which George R.R. Martin responded, "I don't know. I probably could have changed more than one thing. If I could have changed one thing about one of the books, I would have finished it." This caused cheers from the audience. You know, "A Dance with Dragons", the fifth volume of the series, was released as early as July 2011, and it has been 13 years since the sixth volume. Martin previously (last November) revealed that although he has been "working hard" to complete the book, he has not started writing since December 2022. Martin also ended by implicitly saying that he envied writers who self-published their books so they didn’t have to worry about deadlines, and added: “I wish this book had been finished many years ago… That’s the big thing I think I would change.” |
