The author of the comic "Maze Rice" likes "Baldur's Gate 3" very much, but has never played D&D

The original author of the popular manga "Maze Rice", which was recently adapted into an animation, Japanese female cartoonist Ryoko Kujii, recently accepted an interview with the English anime media Anime News Network.

The various interesting adventures of the characters in this comic, the overall atmosphere, and the settings of various monsters easily remind fans of the classic tabletop role-playing game "Dungeons & Dragons" - it is one of the main sources of inspiration for later Western fantasy role-playing games, and it is also the world view of the popular game "Baldur's Gate 3".

However, when asked about her favorite player character, Jiu Jing confessed somewhat apologetically that she "never played Dungeons & Dragons" and that "I didn't even know the term TTRPG (tabletop role-playing game) until I was an adult." However, she did "read a lot of information about Dungeons & Dragons" and bought the player's handbook and related novels, so "I have a certain understanding, but I have never really played a TTRPG."

However, she did play Baldur's Gate 3, using the character of a human rogue, and it was previously reported that she loved the game so much that she drew the Baldur's Gate characters in her own style.

Even with all the variety of dishes in the manga, when asked what dish in real life is very important to her, she couldn't think of "anything in particular" after some thought. She added: "One thing my mother mentioned before is that when making okonomiyaki, she suggested that I use grated yam instead of water. Since then, I have always used yam instead of water. To be honest, I have never compared the two methods, so I don't know the difference, but I just do it."

She was also asked which dish in the comic book "Maze Rice" attracted her the most, but she said that she was actually as picky as Malucel: "I wouldn't want to eat any of them, but when I was drawing the comics, I still thought about how fun it would be if I could eat them."
