Ghibli's first 3DCG animated feature film "Aya and the Witch" postponed from its original release date of April 29

Today, on April 23, distributor Toho Films announced that the first 3DCG animated feature film "Aya and the Witch" from Studio Ghibli has been postponed due to the worsening epidemic situation. The new release date has not yet been determined. The film was originally scheduled to be released on April 29. It was broadcast on NHK's New Year's special at the end of 2020 and was exhibited at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival.

"Aya and the Witch" will be broadcast on NHK at the end of 2020. This work is adapted from the original novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones, the author of "Howl's Moving Castle". This is the first attempt by Studio Ghibli to use 3DCG for the entire animation. "Aya and the Witch" is planned by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Goro Miyazaki. It tells the wonderful story of a girl who doesn't know her own life experience and a strange and evil witch living together.
