Netflix strengthens account sharing control and requires verification code to log in

However, it seems that Netflix now realizes that this idea is not realistic, so it has introduced measures to limit account sharing.

According to GammaWire, some Netflix users received a prompt when they opened Netflix, saying "If you do not live with the account owner, you need your own account to watch Netflix", and it was accompanied by a prompt to open an account to start a 30-day free trial.

If the user wants to prove that the account is indeed borrowed from a friend/family member, the system can send a verification code to the account owner's email or mobile phone number.

Netflix officially confirmed the news. A spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter, "The purpose of this test is to ensure that the account is shared with the owner's authorization," and also mentioned the security risks of sharing passwords.

This mechanism is still in the testing phase and is only being implemented in some regions, so it is not clear whether it will be implemented and implemented globally. However, I believe that this measure is only for those users who illegally obtain other people's accounts. It should not be a problem for those accounts shared between real friends/family.
