Producer: Halo TV series won't please everyone, complexity similar to Game of Thrones

Kiki Wolfkill, director of Halo cross-media, shared some of the latest news about the long-in-progress Halo TV series. In an interview with IGN, Kiki Wolfkill, director of Halo cross-media, said that the Halo series as a first-person shooter is limited in its ability to tell a story because the main storyline is focused on one character, the Master Chief. But with a new Halo TV series, there is an opportunity to enhance the storytelling capabilities of the Halo series and allow fans to see more characters and plots. Kiki Wolfkill also admitted in the interview that the measures taken by Microsoft in the Halo TV series may not please everyone.

“In an FPS game, there’s only so much character-driven storytelling that can be done because they want to maintain some of the mystery of the character and keep the player invested in him or her,” said Kiki Wolfkill, Halo’s transmedia director. “So the new TV series gives us the ability to have a longer narrative and really focus on the characters and the roles in a way that’s hard to do in a first-person game.”

Kiki Wolfkill also touched on this before, saying that the show Halo will be similar to Game of Thrones in terms of the "scope, scale, and complexity of the relationships."

“A lot of the context of Halo is this kind of political drama,” Kiki Wolfkill said. “It’s something that’s easily touched upon in games, whereas in other mediums you see it more. That kind of complexity [in the style of Game of Thrones] is interesting.”

However, unlike Game of Thrones, Halo does not feature any incest scenes . Kiki Wolfkill said: "I would say that there is no plan for incest in our show. If you're looking for it, you won't find it here."

Kiki Wolfkill said the overall goal of the Halo TV series was to tell a story that fans would love and not make them feel that it was contrary to the plot of the games.

“We want people to be able to play the game and have this feeling about who the character is and be able to fall in love with it, and then be able to stop and put it aside and enjoy other experiences and go on another journey,” Kiki Wolfkill said. “And see that character in a different way without feeling like that’s hindering the feeling you have for the character that you already have in the game.”
