China's February box office exceeded 12.2 billion, a new high, with "Hello, Li Huanying" accounting for nearly 40%

According to the data from Lighthouse Professional Edition, the box office in February 2021 totaled 12.267 billion yuan, an increase of 1.1 billion yuan compared with the highest monthly box office record in the mainland set in February 2019, setting a new global single-month market record and about 500 million US dollars higher than the highest monthly record in North America.

Excluding the special year of 2020, the box office of the Chinese film market in February of each year was as follows: 11.163 billion yuan in 2019, 10.147 billion yuan in 2018, and 6.17 billion yuan in 2017. The box office in February 2021 increased by 270% month-on-month, much higher than the box office in January (3.329 billion yuan).

The cumulative number of moviegoers in February reached 266 million, the same as the same period in 2018. The top three monthly box office were "Hello, Li Huanying" with a box office of 4.823 billion yuan, "Detective Chinatown 3" with a box office of 4.312 billion yuan, and "Assassination of Novelist" with a box office of over 895 million yuan.

In February this year, the cumulative number of moviegoers reached 266 million, with 10.361 million screenings and an average ticket price of 46 yuan. In February 2019, the number of moviegoers was 262 million, with 10.5137 million screenings and an average ticket price of 42.5 yuan. This may mean that the film market is recovering. Not long ago, the strongest Spring Festival season in history ended with a box office of 7.8 billion yuan. The time for the Chinese film market box office to break 10 billion in 2021 was 230 days earlier than in 2020.
