Not Cancelled! Capcom Confirms Mega Man Live-Action Movie Still in Preparation

In August of this year, there was news that with the completion of Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, the "Mega Man" live-action film project would be shelved indefinitely. According to the latest news, although there are indeed many projects that have been cut short, the "Mega Man" classic IP adaptation film seems to have escaped.

As the IP holder, Capcom confirmed in its financial report that its live-action movies still exist: "In order to increase the global IP awareness and value and create synergy with games, the company has been adapting popular content in the world, such as Street Fighter and Resident Evil, into Hollywood movies. Now following the first two are Monster Hunter and Mega Man, which are also planned to be adapted into live-action movies (the Monster Hunter movie is already in the filming stage)."

It seems that this project has not been cancelled. According to the earliest news, Masi Oka will serve as producer, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman will serve as director and screenwriter. If Disney is no longer involved, the above lineup may be completely overturned.

Adapting games into movies has always been a tricky business, especially when the game prototype is not close to real people and reality. This year's "Sonic the Hedgehog" is a good example. Fans can only wait and see how determined Capcom is to make this adaptation.
