Actress Scarlett Johansson recently recalled her high-profile lawsuit against Disney over the Marvel movie "Black Widow," saying she doesn't hold a grudge against the lawsuit. The two parties are still doing business, and she is still producing more content for Disney. Johnson's team previously sued Disney because the company arbitrarily decided to release the "Black Widow" movie directly through the streaming media Disney+ during the outbreak in July 2021. At that time, the initial agreement between the two parties was to release the film exclusively in theaters. Johnson's lawyers claimed that Disney did this and caused her to miss millions of dollars. "I don't hold a grudge," Johnson recently told The New York Times. "I think it was a case of poor judgment and leadership at the time. The whole thing just felt very unprofessional to me. I'm very disappointed, to be honest, especially because I was holding out hope until the very last minute, when my team told me, 'You have to take action.'" Disney also pulled no punches in its response to Johnson's lawsuit at the time, calling her allegations "without merit" and saying her decision to sue was "particularly saddening given her callousness regarding the horrific impact the outbreak is having on the world." Disney also revealed her payout, which was reportedly $20 million. The two sides eventually reached a settlement, with Johnson receiving $40 million, according to Deadline. At the time, Johnson also said he looked forward to working with Disney on other projects in the future, and now Johnson is reportedly set to produce and star in Disney's Tower of Terror movie. However, she is unlikely to play Black Widow again in the near future. She recently said that she no longer wants to participate in Marvel works and said that it would take a miracle for her to return. Currently, "Avengers 5" is in production. |
