Rumor has it that the Russo brothers will return to direct "Avengers 5" and "Avengers 6"

Big news from Marvel! Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers 3 and 4, also known as the Russo brothers, are reportedly in talks with Marvel to return to direct Avengers 5, and most likely Avengers 6.

In addition, THR also reported that the subtitle of "Avengers 5" will be changed, and the final villain will no longer focus on Kang.

As THR reported today, negotiations are still in the early stages. IGN has reached out to Disney for comment.

It was previously reported that "Deadpool" and "Wolverine" director Shawn Levy is the favorite to direct "Avengers 5", but he had previously rejected the position. THR pointed out that multiple directors have contacted "Avengers 5" and "Avengers 6", including Levy.

Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally in charge of directing Avengers 5, but he withdrew in November 2023. In the same month, the Avengers 5 movie underwent another change, with Loki screenwriter Michael Waldron as the screenwriter, replacing former Ant-Man 3 screenwriter Jeff Loveness. Michael Waldron will also serve as the screenwriter of Avengers 6.

"Avengers 5" is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026, and "Avengers 6" is scheduled to be released on May 7, 2027.
