Star Wars Episode IX: Kylo Ren's Redemption? What Redemption?

Star Wars Episode IX: Kylo Ren's Redemption? What Redemption?

"Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker" is about to be officially released on December 20, and actor Adam Driver recently expressed his views on the character he plays, Kylo Ren.

Kylo Ren's original name is Ben Solo. In the comic "The Rise of Kylo Ren", we saw the character's growth process, and Rebecca Roanhorse's latest novel "Star Wars: Resistance Reborn" hinted that it would tell the story of Kylo Ren's redemption. However, actor Driver believes that the plot line of Kylo Ren's character is complete and does not need redemption or atonement.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, his response to that question was a rhetorical one: "Is there anything he needs to redeem?"

Fans might think the character is facing a crossroads in his life, but Driver is simply looking at the issue from Kylo Ren's own perspective.

"Kylo Ren is a different identity, and his definition of redemption is different. In his own story, he has already been redeemed."

"So I don't think he ever thought about redemption or anything like that. He didn't have an outside perspective. Redemption was all about the outsider's view of his world."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is expected to open at $200 million.
