According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has once again acquired a movie called "Born to be Murdered" starring John David Washington, who left a deep impression in his previous starring role in "Tenet". According to reports, this is a new movie starring him and Alicia Vikander, the Oscar-winning actress who played Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. The movie tells the story of a couple played by Washington and Vikander who are preparing to spend a happy vacation in Greece, but are involved in a "violent conspiracy with disastrous consequences." The movie was shot on location in Greece in 2019 and has just been sold to Netflix, and is expected to be released in 2021. In addition to Washington and Vikander, Born to be Murdered also stars Boyd Holbrook and Vicky Krieps. The film was produced by Luca Guadagnino, who directed the 2017 Oscar-winning Call Me by Your Name. Born to be Murdered was directed by Ferdinando Sito Filomarino, marking his first English-language project. Filomarino was also the second director on Call Me by Your Name. This is Netflix's second acquisition this year of a film starring John David Washington, after the company paid $30 million for Washington's black-and-white film with Zendaya titled Malcolm & Marie. |
