The film industry has been hit hard by the epidemic, causing global box office losses of at least $17 billion

Recently, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hollywood blockbusters scheduled for March and April have been rescheduled or withdrawn, and production of films in progress or about to start has been suspended; cinemas in many countries including China and Italy have been closed, and the scale of cinemas in the United States has been reduced. All of these have dealt a fatal blow to the global film industry.

According to foreign media The Hollywood Reporter, the global box office has lost at least $7 billion due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Including March, April and May, the loss increased by another $10 billion, bringing the total loss to about $17 billion.

If the epidemic is still not under control after May, the box office losses will be even more severe. It is worth mentioning that last year's global box office totaled 42.2 billion US dollars, setting a new record (including 11.4 billion in North America and 9.3 billion in mainland China).
