A memorial to the Kyoto Animation arson case was built, with the 36 victims transformed into birds of peace

Today, July 14, the monument to the Kyoto Animation arson case that shocked the animation industry was officially completed. The main body is a sculpture of 36 birds of peace, commemorating the 36 animation elites who unfortunately died in the case.

Shinji Aoba, the suspect in the Kyoto Animation incident, deliberately set fire to the Kyoto Animation headquarters on July 18, 2019, killing 36 people and injuring 32 people, including himself. After more than four years of treatment, Shinji Aoba went to trial in September last year and was sentenced to death in the first instance. The defendant is currently appealing.
