The Russo brothers' film "Mosul," adapted from real events, lands on Netflix

According to THR, the military action film "Mosul" produced by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo has come to Netflix. The film will be released in November this year.

Mosul was written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan, who co-wrote World War Z and 21 Bridges (also produced by the Russo brothers). The film retells the real war event "The Battle of Mosul". The story centers on a group of Iraqi police from Nineveh SWAT who guard the town in northern Iraq.

Mosul first screened at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, followed by the Toronto International Film Festival. The film was originally expected to be released in 2019 through 101 Studio, but the plan ultimately fell through.

"Mosul" is the second military action movie produced by the Russell brothers this year. After completing the two blockbusters "Avengers 3 Infinity War" and "Avengers 4 Endgame", the Russell brothers seem to have turned their attention to some smaller and more independent stories.
