The Devil Wears Prada sequel faces down the decline of print media

A lot has changed since the release of The Devil Wears Prada, the 2006 comedy set in the world of fashion magazines, and it looks like the plot of Disney's reportedly set to make a sequel, starring Meryl Streep returning as stern editor Miranda Priestley, will focus on those changes.

According to independent reports from Puck and Variety, the sequel will tell the story of Miranda Priestley, who is in the late stages of her career and is dealing with the decline of traditional magazines. Puck reports that Emily Blunt will also reprise her role as Emily Charlton, who is now an executive at a luxury goods group. The sequel will also be written by the original cast, Aline Brosh McKenna.

"The Devil Wears Prada 2" will tell the story of "Big Devil" Miranda's career starting to go downhill, and she has to seek help from Emily - Emily is working as an executive in a luxury company at the time, and Miranda urgently needs advertising funds from their company.

It is not yet clear whether Anne Hathaway, one of the three stars of the original film, will participate in the filming of the sequel. IGN has contacted Disney for confirmation.

The Devil Wears Prada was a huge success when it was released that year, with a global box office of over $325 million. The film is based on Lauren Weisberger's novel of the same name, which describes her personal experience. It tells the story of a girl from a small city who accidentally became the assistant of Miranda, the devilish editor-in-chief of a very famous fashion magazine "Runway" after graduation. The girl thought she had found a good job that everyone envied, but the editor-in-chief lived a very luxurious and glamorous life on the one hand, and exploited the assistant's labor as much as she could on the other. Therefore, the dream was soon shattered. Her job was not only not a paradise, but worse than hell, which made her very depressed. Therefore, she began to think about this society and her own life, and gradually became mature.
