"Mulan" received rave reviews in North America after the ban was lifted, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 80%

Today (September 4), "Mulan" was launched on Disney+ in North America, and the ban on North American film reviews was lifted. Currently, the Rotten Tomatoes rating is 80% (112 fresh, 28 rotten), MTC is 69 points (27 good, 14 medium, 1 bad), and 42 media have given reviews. Most media gave high scores, such as IGN gave 8 points, and some media called "Mulan" an "epic action masterpiece."

Some media reviews:

San Francisco Chronicle: An uplifting movie that didn't go as planned, but it came at the best time.

Indiewire: Perhaps the best example of "original mixed with something new", "The Ballad of Mulan" has always been a grand story about "the power of being yourself in a world that is not yet ready to accept your true self", a legend that may resonate for thousands of years. In Niki Caro's "Mulan", this story moves forward beautifully and powerfully, delivering a classic message that is in line with the present.

Variety: Some may complain that every frame looks unoriginal, but there’s no denying that this film is so eye-catching!

ThePlaylist: Mulan is an epic coming-of-age story, grand in scale, spectacular in spectacle, and inspiring in heart. It's a triumphant film, a film about a woman who proves the boys wrong, who can be true to her heart and bring honor back to her father and be proud of him. These may sound simple, but director Caro has created a stunning sense of layering, whether in tones, contours, or shadows, to create a grand fairy tale.

Chicago Sun-Times: It's so beautiful. Even on a small screen, you can feel its beauty. It's a pity that American audiences can't enjoy it on the big screen. Fortunately, it is a good movie with amazing scenes and dazzling action scenes. The bright colors are really dazzling!

IGN: The live-action version of "Mulan" confidently blends old and new elements, hiding a familiar heart under the armor of battle.

Empire: Niki Caro creates a saga full of bold new ideas and a sense of combat! It highlights Liu Yifei's star power. The live-action remake is a huge success without any suspense.

Radio Times: The new version of the story boldly goes in a completely different direction from the animation, taking greater risks in changing the original material, and the photography is extremely gorgeous, and the action scenes are amazing!

USATODAY: Although the viewing experience is completely different from the animated version and may not even be suitable for all children, its fantasy style and inspiring adventure are commendable!

"Mulan" will officially land in domestic theaters on September 11, so stay tuned.

<<:  Robert Pattinson confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus, and the new "Batman" movie was suspended

>>:  The manga "Goodbye, My Kramer" will be adapted into a TV and movie version next year.
