DC's Batwoman to be starred by black actress Javicia Leslie

After the first season's star Ruby Rose announced her withdrawal, CW's DC superhero series "Batwoman" announced a new star for Season 2, the new "Batwoman" actor, Javicia Leslie ("God Friended Me").

The show's former star Ruby Rose left after the first season. Leslie will play the new character Ryan Wilder, taking over the title of Batwoman, not replacing Rose as Kate Kane. Kane will not be killed in the show as previously reported.

Javicia Leslie posted on Instagram that she was proud to be the first black actor to play Batwoman in a TV series, and as a bisexual, she was happy to join such a pioneering series for the LGBTQ+ community. Ross also posted on Instagram to congratulate her.
