Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange, may have accidentally revealed details about the role that Doctor Strange will play in the Avengers 5 movie. In an interview with Netflix, Cumberbatch analyzed his artistic approach to some of his most iconic roles on screen, including Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series Sherlock, Smaug in The Hobbit, and of course, Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While discussing Doctor Strange, Cumberbatch let slip that his character might be involved in Avengers 5 in some form. "Since (being cast), I have maintained a very pleasant cooperative relationship with Marvel. I am very much looking forward to next year's "Avengers", which is being prepared in full swing." From this, we can infer two potential messages: First, as Deadline previously reported, Doctor Strange is likely to return, and the report said that Avengers 5 may allow "more than 60 Marvel Cinematic Universe characters" to appear again. Second, if the first point is true, it may mean that Avengers 5 is still scheduled to go into production next year, despite some creative differences behind the scenes. |
