Japan's "Manga Awards 2020" selection results announced: "Blue Period" topped the list

The results of Japan's "Manga Award 2020", in which a volunteer selection committee composed mainly of bookstore clerks voted to recommend popular comics, were officially announced today, March 16. "Blue Period" written by Yamaguchi Hitoshi topped the list and won the championship. Let's take a look.

The Manga Awards has been held since 2008, and this year is the 13th. The selection targets single-volume works published between January 1 and December 31, 2019, with a maximum of 8 volumes, excluding works that have won the Manga Awards in the past.

Yamaguchi Hiko who doesn't want to show her face

The grand prize winner "Blue Period" tells the story of Yaguchi Hachiko, who is a popular student with excellent grades in school, even though he is like a bad boy who likes to drink, smoke and hang out with friends. However, he feels anxious about this empty and boring life. One day in the art club, he saw the beautiful oil painting of a senior sister and the advice of the art teacher, which made him decide to try painting, and thus began his hard work to enter an art university.
