Ultraman's biological father Tsuburaya wins the lawsuit! UM Company of the United States gives up the appeal and faces huge compensation

The long-standing copyright issue of "Ultraman" has always been a headache for the industry and player fans. Just last December, Tsuburaya announced that it had won the case in the United States, but the infringing party, UM Corporation of the United States, still has the right to appeal. However, on March 10, Tsuburaya officially announced that UM Corporation of the United States has given up the appeal and will face huge compensation.

The dispute between UM and Tsuburaya is an intractable historical legacy in the long career of Ultraman. Simply put, UM was once authorized to own the intellectual property rights of Ultraman in countries outside of Japan. Although Tsuburaya does not admit it to this day, the key lies in the fact that UM has the so-called "contract".

On December 10, 2019, Ultraman's biological father, Tsuburaya Productions, issued a statement saying that on December 5, local time in the United States, the court ruled in favor of UM in the long-running copyright infringement case, but UM has the right to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court for reconsideration, with a deadline of March 4, 2020.

The final result is that until March 4, UM Corporation of America did not appeal, which means that Ultraman's biological father Tsuburaya completely won the case and UM Corporation of America will face a huge compensation of more than 4 million US dollars. From now on, the intellectual copyright of Ultraman will only have one person, Tsuburaya.
